Balance of Power (BOP) is a multi-country initiative, with a team working across Vanuatu, Tonga, and Fiji. BOP is Pacific Islander led and implemented, with short-term inputs provided by international colleagues in targeted specialist areas. BOP looks different in each of the countries we work in, because although we are interconnected as Pacific peoples, our cultural contexts have significant nuances when it comes to the deep-seated social norms and power dynamics around women’s leadership. Our programs are rooted in specific country contexts, but we also recognise the importance of engagement with the regional architecture. Our regional-level activity allows BOP to strengthen connections between national and regional levels and collaborate with institutions which hold significant influence. We also leverage from the value that comes from cross-regional learning, information- sharing and advocacy.
